We went to the balloon rise this morning. This weekend is the Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival and they had over 65 balloons participating in the rise this morning. At 6:45AM they started rising by the Chatfield reservoir and by 7:30 almost all were in the air except for the Energizer Bunny which was still inflating. The Flying Pig is always a hit, and there was a dragon balloon - very cool, and Tony the Tiger. There was also a sleepy cat, cute - but I think a sheep balloon would be a welcome addition.
We then went to get pancakes for breakfast and then off to church. The little one is playing only child today because his big brother is having a sleep over at Grandma's house.
This one flew right over our heads, I don't know where they landed.
I have a lot of knitting to get done. I am on repeat 11 of 12 on Hanging Gardens, started this morning with approximately 100 rows to go until bind off. This will be a FO this week. I have a coat which is going up on needles this week, and I need to finish some other projects, especially the Rowan. But I have another trip this week, a short one to Indianapolis, so there will be extra knitting time on Frontier watching TV to make some dents in the huge amount of knitting calling my name. Plus I have yarn and needles coming from Europe and Canada which should be arriving any day. Oh boy!
Yesterday, I went to a style seminar with Leanne http://www.purpleprincessknits.blogspot.com/, Judy http://www.fiberexperiences.blogspot.com/, Christie and Theresa. It was interesting and time will tell if I learned anything when I go clothes shopping or try to match up outfits. And of course we had a good time at lunch with margaritas for all!
I then rushed home to bake a Kahlua fudge cake for a party DH and the little guy and I went to. Nice party, nice folks, great new backyard. After that it was off to the balloon festival for the night time illumination which is very cool if you haven't seen one. The balloons are inflated, but on the ground and when they fire up the heater, the balloon is illuminated. Try that with 65 plus balloons and it is quite a show.
Well, I have knitting to do, laundry to do, tomatoes to pick and a meeting to get to. Weekends are way too busy! Have a great day! It's gorgeous outside.

"But we were on a break"
All right, I know it’s been a long time since I have written on the blog. I do have some pictures and some things to write about, but there hasn’t been much time lately, and if it comes down to blogging vs. knitting, I have to choose the knitting time.
Things have been busy and there’s been change over here at Mountain Purl. First – work, I am now working as a federal prosecutor. I started this Wednesday, and boy do I have a lot to learn. I have about 500 pages of legal reading to get through. I need to learn how every thing works in the Colorado District Court, criminal side. I don’t want to make a mistake, and I don’t want a judge to screw with me because I didn’t follow one of the local rules. Yep – lots of learning to do.
This week hasn’t been bad. I won big at Bunko – over 65 bucks which is huge for our group. That was a nice surprise. It’s going in the new car fund, towards whatever I decide to buy sometime next year.
Lots of knitting, lots of ripping. Last night I ripped out the entire Lady Eleanor, because I thought I added too many stitches to the original pattern – so Leanne I ripped too! Hanging Gardens has 7 of the 12 repeats done but I had to take a break from it. I put up a pair of socks for me on Wednesday, out of some hot pink STR. Bought some Kauni over at a Knitted Peace last night and as a bonus saw my knitting bud Joanne which was great. Need to finish the Rowan present, have a great idea for some other Kauni in the stash that I can’t wait to try. The list goes on and on. I need to win the lottery!!!! That way I can knit as much as I want.
Trip next week to DC. How disgusting is that – DC in August? Help I’m melting….. Oh – but I can knit on the plane, and it’s Frontier so I can watch the Food Network and knit. Shut up and knit.
516 days until I can retire. Okay, that’s not so bad. The sun is shining, AND IT’S FRIDAY, and I’m leaving early for a hair appointment which is so over due. Not so bad. Have a GREAT day!

Busy.
I’ve been really busy. My best friend Beth from high school arrived in Denver on Friday with her family. Her DH is a nurse anesthetist, so they are in town for his conference. So we have been running around. Saturday they came over to the house for a cookout, so there was a mad session of trying to clean the mess that is my house.
Sunday we went to the mountains and drove to the top of Mt. Evans. We saw mountain goats. I have a picture somewhere if I can find the digital camera (which I have not seen since Sunday). Might be in the coat pocket (it was in the 40’s up on the top of the mountain).
Found my camera.
Then we went over to Georgetown to have lunch and walk around. Monday it was back to work, then last night we all went to the Rockies game. It wasn’t looking too good there for a while, and then the Rockies came alive and won 11-4. Great game. But now I’m just dragging. We didn’t get home until after 11PM, which means the boys are short sleep along with mom and dad. DH put it this way when I was getting dressed for work, you look nice, but your face looks really tired. Yep, that sums it up.
Knitting. Let’s see. I cast on a very cute Rowan on Sunday on the way to the mountains as a gift for someone. No more about this until it is finished and presented, but boy it’s looking very cute. I cast on some socks from Favorite Socks, but right now they are not my favorite and will be going to the frog pond. I am working on Hanging Gardens. I really want this done in the next 2 weeks, but for some reason cannot knit at my usual rate of speed on it. Though it is #1 in priority because I must have FO’s this month.
My oldest starts football tonight. I registered him in flag football, because I want him to learn fundamentals before he ever gets in pads. I think 2nd grade is too young for pads, even though there are pee wee leagues.
Barry Bonds’ 756th, who cares! Put an asterisk by that record baby because we all know you have been on ‘roids for years!
Beautiful day in God’s country. Those blue skies are back.
